Love Stories, Part 1

O Joy!

Installation view of woodcuts hanging with other posters and ads on abandoned building, Locust St. & Compton Avenue

Love Stories, Part 1, was the first annual public project by Vertigo Press. This narrative progression of eight woodcut images was posted over a period of six weeks as the "love story" unfolded. They are advertisements for love -- love as a commodity, a commodity that is lasting, significant, and personal; love that is raw, weathered, and abandoned; mythic love that plays with power and creates limitation; love on the scale of a Coke billboard in your own backyard - love for the love cynic.
